ADDITIONAL NOTES:

the last entry of our west coast trip focuses on the beautiful painted ladies of san francisco, victorian homes just west of Alamo Square. a lot of these, i think, were on Broderick Street, named after David Broderick who was a Tammany Hall ward politician in New York City prior to coming to San Francisco in 1849. He later became a California senator.

classic victorian homes in beautiful san francisco

We did a free guided walk around this area a couple of years ago. We went inside one of the houses and it was beautiful. In the basement the man had a fantastic collection of player pianos. It's one of my best memories of our US trip and highly recommended. Unfortunately, I can't remember any of the details, but I'm sure it was just from a flyer we picked up.
