... 478 acres, located just five miles from downtown manhattan. green-wood cemetery is a huge area of sunset park that hosts almost 600,000 dead and the rumored highest point in brooklyn.

It was a leading tourist attraction by the 1850�s, attracting 500,000 visitors per year. By the 1860�s, the New York Times was reporting that "It is the ambition of the New Yorker to live upon the Fifth Avenue, to take his airings in the [Central] Park, and to sleep with his fathers in GreenWood."

Notables include Leonard Bernstein, Charles Ebbets, Samuel F.B. Morse, Peter Cooper, Horace Greeley, Louis Comfort Tiffany, Henry Ward Beecher, Elias Howe, and �Wizard of Oz� Frank Morgan, �Boss� Tweed, Joey Gallo, "Bill The Butcher" Poole, Pierrepont, and Pfizer, to name a few...
