blurry furry union square squirrels come out to play

26 January 04 @ 06:00
beautiful photographs. i love squirrels. when i was a child, i used to feed one chocolate. he'd pick it up, scamper off and hide it... very sweet.
26 January 04 @ 07:57
fantastic shots! it seems that nyc squirrels are fearless. ++
26 January 04 @ 13:12
beautiful! i particularly like the first one, it has a wonderful inquisitive quality to it. :)
26 January 04 @ 15:26
did you take those pictures with a zoom, remotely, or normally?
david //

26 January 04 @ 15:48
no zoom – the camera was prolly less than 8 inches from that second squirrel. they were just that curious (and ready to eat)...
26 January 04 @ 15:51
excellent shots. much respect to you.
26 January 04 @ 16:43
briljant!
26 January 04 @ 18:36
that is so fabulous, i don't even know what to say! ahhh! i love squirrels! they bring out the raging asian female in me who desperately wants to put one in a cute knit pastel sweater and walk around with it in her louis vuitton bag!
27 January 04 @ 00:21
oh...so cute. i love squirrels! the first squirrel is so fat, i think he may actually be a groundhog. fun and beautiful photos, cuz!
27 January 04 @ 09:02
I love the motion in the fourth photo. Either you came in fast with the camera, or he started lunging at the camera (probably seeing if it was edible) during the shutter release. So very cute. :)
27 January 04 @ 16:29
Friendly little guys. They are surprisingly colorful, too.
27 January 04 @ 18:46

It's all pretty squirrelly to me! I really like the one rat who's tryin' to bum a cigarette off that unsuspecting schmo.

All pictures are good because they show squirrels – the most adorable animals on earth. My favorite is the sixth one; it illustrates clearly the good-natured ness of squirrels, which combined with their subtlety always melts my heart. However, those squirrels in close-ups and the one that approached the man did not do it out of inquisitiveness. They came for food! Please, everybody: feed, water and protect the adorable squirrels everywhere!

It is so good to see wildlife thriving and being fed! I always feed the squirrels too! The ones I feed seem to love bread. Thenks for the fun pix! I am in Alabama and we have not seen any snow all year,so I notice it is on the ground there and I love it!

These pics bring back awesome memories. I was a student @ Parsons School of Design and used to live in Union Square. We would feed the squirrles all the time. There was this one insane squirrel that only had one eye...we called him Bluetail the Pirate Squirrel. He rocked!

Hi, I came across your adorable photos via a google search and had to use one in the Montreal city blog, midnightpoutine.ca I'd use some boring old clipart, but I really just wanted to link people to the rest of the photos (obviously, I'm crediting your site.) Please let me know if you'd like me take it down by leaving a comment at the URL above.
22 August 06 @ 17:24
Er, rather, please leave a comment at the wonderleafy URL, if you'd like me to take down your photo. Thank you!
