ADDITIONAL NOTES:

I've been aiming to bring my camera out daily to better know/recall the details in our local neighborhoods. -- Yes, I'm that short woman in pigtails pushing a kid in a stroller with a ridiculously heavy DSLR in my right hand. -- Above in order, via London's relatively new Street View: on Drysdale Street, on Scrutton Street, as close as google maps would let me get on Curtain Road, and two on Hoxton Street. (I think that yellow door is here.)

Related: my London Flickr map. More type and signage, more Hackney, and more London on this site.

type on the walls around old street in hackney

Really love your photos.. Especially the London ones as I live in East London myself, so nice to see the area with a fresh eye.. Don't wish to be too nit-picky, but some of these latest pics are not technically in Hackney.. Curtain Road & Scrutton Street are in the City - I guess Old St / Shoreditch area is geographically a bit complex as it's where Hackney, Islington & the City all meet! Anyway look forward to seeing more pics.

Hello, and thanks for the note. I was going to label them differently until google maps listed them as all in Hackney (see links in post), which I'd originally thought was a bit more north from Old Street... confused, I got geeky and checked out Hackney's site. They have a great map(!), which confirms everything is technically in the bottom nook of Hackney.

Though I have no doubt that you're correct in referring to these areas how people actually refer to them! And since we're still getting to know the area, that's definitely more useful.

They're all wonderful photos, but the first one seems to be very frame-worthy.
